Any woman can experience hair loss, though it is more common in older ladies. What after MBBS – MD or MS?
The field of medicine offers an undergraduate programme of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Aspirants who want to pursue a career as a doctor or take up medical research or even aspire to be a medical scientist will have to graduate and finish five and a half years (including a year of internship) to have a future career in the field of medicine.
Post Graduate courses
Like every other field, the medical field has Post Graduate courses too. To have a fulfilling career in the medical field, one has to choose from a vast variety of specialisation, one that they are really passionate about and prepare for that particular field. An MBBS graduate can choose either MD or MS. One has first to decide if they want to be a physician or a surgeon and choose respectively.
Choosing MD
Going forward with MD is considered as a straightforward and simple way by the medical community. However, it is essential to keep in mind that it is not as easy as it sounds, and it does require a lot of dedication and hard work. Being a physician requires a lot of patience and empathetic skills. Understanding a patient and ensuring their safety is one important part of being a physician.
MBBS MD courses
When it comes to specialisation, there are various options to choose from under MD. There is Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, ENT, Anatomy, Psychiatry, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics etc. Choosing MD after MBBS will enable you to reach and treat a wide range of patients, and the learning never stops.
Choosing MS
Practising Surgery is an art of its own; it cannot be mastered because you finish a course in surgery. It takes a lot of practice and skills to become a good and reputed surgeon. One requires discipline and a strong gut to be able to do what surgeons do. It requires one to be passionate about the particular organ or the field they decide to specialise on. Every case could teach you something new, and it is also a continuous learning process.
MBBS MS course
The field of surgery has many specialisations, and some of them are, Urology, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics, Cardiac surgery etc. Surgery is not for someone with a faint heart (especially if you want to take up cardiology).
MD or MS
The choice between MD or MS should be made based on the aptitude of the student and by carefully thinking about what the peer wants to do in the future. If the candidate is a people person and sees a future in being a physician, then MD is the right choice. If the candidate is passionate about surgery and believes that they could fair well in this field, then MS is the way to go.
